NRC are both excited and humbled to announce that they have been nominated for the Westpac Auckland Business Awards in the Excellence in Customer Service Delivery Category AND the People’s Choice Category.
And since you are people, you now have your chance to vote for them in the People's Choice Category.
As most of you are aware, National Road Carriers is a progressive New Zealand road transport association (non-profit), providing advocacy, representation and business support for those who choose to make a living in the road transport industry.
In the mid-1930s the road transport industry was just coming out of the Great Depression. Truckers in Auckland were locked in a David versus Goliath struggle. The Master Carriers dominated - they had all the benefits, from discounts to lobbying clout. Small town carriers meanwhile, were struggling to survive.
On Monday, October 5 1936, twenty-nine of these owner-drivers gathered at the Trades Hall in Hobson Street to form an association. Their mission? To serve the needs of operators of all sizes.
And guess what? They won out. In the 80+ years since then, National Road Carriers have become a progressive nationwide organisation in New Zealand. And it still sticks up for road carriers of every size - from the one person owner/operator to some of the largest road carriers in New Zealand.
We're respected by fuel and oil companies and other major suppliers, with whom we negotiate powerful deals on our member's behalf. And we never stop representing the industries interests at national and local government level. We are a small team, punching above our weight.
