At a mid-November function in Palmerston North the McIntosh family is set to celebrate 75 years in business – a journey that began from a small general engineering shop located on Grey St in the city.
Since 1951 the company – which began as McIntosh Brothers – has evolved in two directions while remaining firmly based in the Manawatu.
Designing and building a small truck-mounted crane in 1961 was the forerunner of McIntosh Cranes, which today specialises in mobile crane services and hiab work.
The engineering side has grown into a manufacturing operation producing the McIntosh Farm Equipment range of bale feeders, tip trailers, silage, and feed wagons – which are sold nationwide and in Australia.
