Kenworth number 10 for the Dibble Transport Ltd fleet is a new T610 SAR which went on the road at the beginning of February.

The 6x4 truck and 5-axle trailer combination is the latest unit to carry the traditional blue, silver, and red Dibble Transport colours, a familiar sight on highways throughout the country for over 70 years.

Specifications for the new Kenworth were carefully selected by Director Mitchell Stamp, working with Adam McIntosh from Southpac Trucks, to incorporate a number of special features.

“We have worked with Adam and Southpac for a number of years and they’re great to deal with,” says Mitchell.

Among the most immediately noticeable features is the 760mm mid-roof `Integrate’ sleeper cab.

“It’s a good-looking combination, the truck weighs out well with plenty of room in the sleeper cab,” says Mitchell.

Steven Collins of Cambridge – who has driven for Dibble Transport on and off for over the past 20 years – will get to enjoy the space and comfort benefits of the 760mm cab.

“It’s well-deserved for Stephen. He is a great operator, and his truck is always kept immaculate. He’ll be driving the new Kenworth North Island-wide and making some occasional trips down south,” Mitchell says.

The T610 SAR will cart all types of bulk materials ranging from fertiliser, aggregates, and stock feeds. The truck will be operating at 52.7 tonnes.

The tipper bins and the new 5-axle trailer are built by Transport Trailers, a tried and tested combination at Dibble Transport.

“Transport Trailers are all we run in our bulk fleet that we are very happy with the product,” Mitchell says.

Tauranga Canvas made and fitted the tarps for the bins.

‘’Working closely with Transport Trailers over the years we’ve developed a pretty good formula for the bin design which we’ve refined over the years, and we pretty much repeat it with each new unit.”

Long-time Dibble partners – Fleet Image in Te Awamutu completed all the paint work and clear coating of the bins. The graphics, scrolls, pinstripes and paint protection are by Wrapped Auto Signs at Tauriko.

“Both their workmanship is outstanding,” says Mitchell.

A 600.615hp Cummins X15 producing 2050 lb-ft of torque powers the new T610 SAR and there’s an Eaton RTLO 20918b Roadranger 18-speed manual behind the 15-litre six-cylinder.

A 7.2t Meritor front axle is fitted along with Meritor 46-160 rear axles featuring full X-locks and a 4.3:1 final drive ratio.

Other exterior details include twin 6-inch pipes, twin 360-litre fuel tanks, Dura-bright alloy rims and 385/65 Super Single steer tyres. The drive wheels are fitted with 11R tyres. Stainless work includes a drop visor, wheel arch trims, lower grill panel, bug deflector, and fuel tank bracket trim.

The interior is equipped with a 7-inch factory GPS display, full gauge pack, CB Radio and a 42-litre fridge.

The Kenworth brand now makes up close to a third of the Dibble Transport fleet.

“Included in the Dibble Group we have a mixture of tippers and tractor units made up of a couple of 409 SARs a 408, 904, three T610s, and this is the third of our new T610 SARs,” says Mitchell.

“Kenworth number 11 is going to be a new T909 bulk unit which is underway and should be ready on the road by the middle of this year. This truck will be driven by Greg Russo (Chops) another top of the line Dibble operator.”
