IKEA New Zealand has partnered with Jump Charging to develop and deliver a state-of-the-art electric-vehicle charging ecosystem that will support the retailer’s aim of zero-emissions home deliveries across Auckland and in the future, across New Zealand, as well as making EV charging accessible and convenient for its customers and IKEA co-workers.
The two organisations have worked together to design a solution that is scalable, future-proof and aligned to IKEA’s long-term sustainability ambitions.
At the new IKEA Sylvia Park store, Jump Charging has installed: Two 100 kW Kempower DC station chargers, each with dual CCS2 connectors, powering Mainfreight and NZ Post electric last-mile delivery vehicles. Twenty-five 7.4 kW Wallbox Commander 2 AC chargers for customer and IKEA co-worker EV charging.
At IKEA’s external warehouse in Māngere, the installation includes: Six 100 kW Kempower DC station chargers to service last-mile delivery vehicles and intersite transport.
Jump Charging’s project delivery team collaborated closely with IKEA’s zero-emissions and construction teams to integrate charging infrastructure across a major new-build retail site and an airport-owned logistics facility. Despite the inherent challenges of such environments, the project was completed efficiently through a unified, solutions-focused approach.
Additional key features delivered by Jump Charging include: Deployment of intelligent load management across AC and DC chargers, enabling control of energy distribution to optimise site capacity, protect electrical infrastructure and ensure reliable operation during peak demand. Hardwired ethernet connectivity for all AC chargers to ensure reliable communication with the Charging Management System (CMS), mitigating the risk of interference in the ground-floor car park.
Jump Charging will also manage and maintain IKEA’s charging infrastructure on an ongoing basis, supported by Nova Energy’s Charge Hub CMS for monitoring, reporting and billing.
