Posted: 18-Jun-2025 |
Road users and residents need to be ready for night works and road closures as road crews carry out maintenance work on State Highway 58, Paremata Road later this month.
One week of night closures are planned for the highway from 22 June to 26 June. The highway will be closed between Postgate Drive and James Cook Drive each night between 9 pm and 4 am.
Road crews will be clearing drains and channels to reduce the risk of surface flooding, fixing safety barriers and road signs, as well as trimming vegetation and trees overhanging the highway.
Erosion protection work will be carried out to protect the highway from erosion from Porirua Harbour and footpath repairs near the Postgate Drive roundabout will also be completed
Traffic management will be set up from 8 pm and drivers can expect travel delays while this is underway.
Local road detours will be available for all traffic. Resident access will be maintained during the closures
The NZ Transport Agency Wellington Transport Alliance understand that full closures can be disruptive and that detours do add to travel times. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.
State Highway 58 between Pāuatahanui and Paremata is a critical transport link that carries more than 16,000 vehicles daily. Regular maintenance is essential to ensure it remains resilient and accessible to road users and residents.
Road users and residents are urged to plan ahead for these works. Please allow extra time for your journeys while the closures and detours are in place.
Works Schedule and Detour Map: Sunday, 22 June, to Thursday, 26 June. 9 pm – 4 am
