NZ Post - 100 EVs and counting
Posted: 29-Oct-2026 |
Delivery Partners operating within NZ Post’s last mile network continue to make the shift to EVs, surpassing the milestone of 100 fully electric vehicles on the road. The latest wave of EV purchases across the country pushed the network’s numbers over the line to a new total of 115 EVs delivering in our communities.
As the EV market for commercial vehicles matures, more and more Delivery Partners are finding that the technology and the numbers stack up for them. The EVs already on the road are proving their value every day, helping build confidence that the technology is practical, reliable, and here for the long term.
Electric vehicles already play a key role in how we deliver and we’re accelerating that shift with a commitment to transition our last mile to low emission vehicles by 2032. Your delivery experience won’t change, it will remain reliable, consistent and nationwide. This transition is being managed carefully with our Delivery Partners so they have the time, tools, and support to move to lower emission vehicles without impacting service. Achieving this is a shared journey, and courier drivers sit at the heart of it. A range of support is in place to help make the shift to electric vehicles smoother, more accessible, and more affordable.
In January 2026 NZ Post (in consultation with Delivery Partners) made a commitment to offering a low-emission last mile delivery service by the end of 2032. This week, passing over 100 EVs in our network marks a major milestone and an important step towards that goal. It’s a significant collective achievement that shows both the commitment of Delivery Partners and the real progress being made towards a more sustainable future for our customers. Just as importantly, it shows that large scale electrification of a contractor delivery network is not only possible, but is happening here in New Zealand. We are extremely proud to be working with our Delivery Partners on this transition to a low-emission, future-fit, network for Aotearoa.
