The 2025 class of inductees into the Mobil 1 Delvac New Zealand Road Transport Hall of Fame will be celebrated at the annual black tie gala dinner in Invercargill on Friday September 26.

Established in 2012 with an inaugural class of eight inductees, there are now 73 members of the Hall of Fame who have been recognised for their contributions across many aspects of New Zealand’s road transport industry.

Beginning last year, the event also raises funds to assist the Street Smart driven by Tony Quinn Foundation road safety charity, which delivers a hands-on young driver training programme to New Zealand.

The New Zealand Log Transport Safety Council conferred its first life memberships to honour long-time industry stalwarts at its 2025 AGM in Rotorua recently.

As the council prepares to celebrate 30 years since its creation in 1996, it has named Duncan Borlase, Bruce Nairn and John Long as its inaugural life members.

Outgoing chairman Warwick Wilshier, who stepped down at this year’s AGM after 25 years at the helm of the council, says the time was right to confer the first life memberships.

A major new global player in the commercial vehicle market will be established when Indian giant Tata Motors takes ownership of the Iveco Group.

The two companies recently announced they have reached agreement to create a commercial vehicles group with the reach, product portfolio and industrial capability to be a leading global competitor.

Completion of the deal is conditional on the separation of Iveco Group’s defence business. The likely timeline for the deal to be complete is the first half of 2026.

The awards, hosted by Transporting New Zealand, celebrate individuals and organisations making major contributions to the road transport sector through innovation, safety, industry awareness, and training.

Mack Trucks North America has revealed a second generation Anthem range with improved fuel efficiency, new exterior styling and an updated interior.

The original Anthem was launched in North America in 2018 and arrived in the New Zealand market during late-2021.

The new model timing for North America will see production begin in early 2026. There is no confirmation for when the model change will roll through to Australia-built examples for the New Zealand market.
