New Year lane closure on Cambridge Road part of major intersection upgrade works

January will mark a significant milestone for the Tauriko Enabling Works project, as crews undertake an intensive programme of works to progress the State Highway 29 (SH29)/Cambridge Road intersection upgrade.

While many locals enjoy their summer holidays, the team will take advantage of reduced traffic volumes and the absence of school buses to deliver what’s being dubbed ‘Super January’ - a concentrated effort to complete as much work as possible during this period.

Port investment to drive Gisborne’s economic growth

Associate Transport Minister James Meager has confirmed a significant Government investment into new container-handling equipment for Gisborne’s Eastland Port, which will unlock fresh economic opportunities for the Tairāwhiti region.

Transport Operators Should Prepare For Random Roadside Drug Testing

Road freight association Ia Ara Aotearoa Transporting New Zealand is recommending transport operators prepare for random roadside drug testing, which is gradually being rolled out across New Zealand from mid-December.

A recent amendment to the Land Transport Act gives Police similar powers to random breath tests, by requiring drivers to undergo a saliva test to check for the presence of four illicit drugs.
