Commercial Vehicle Safety Centre at Bombay now completed

NZ Transport Agency is proud to announce the completion of construction on their new Commercial Vehicle Safety Centre (CVSC) at Bombay. Designed to improve safety, compliance, and fairness across New Zealand’s freight industry, the centre will soon become a key checkpoint for heavy vehicles travelling along one of the country’s busiest freight corridors.

An investigation by the Commerce Commission has resulted in courier companies Aramex and GoSweetSpot (GSS) being penalised $700,000 and $525,000, respectively, by the High Court for engaging in cartel conduct.
Additonally, nine courier services businesses will soon be issued warnings for conduct the Commission believes likely constitutes cartel conduct in breach of the Commerce Act.

Road users can expect night-time delays in the first half of this month on State Highway 20 (SH20) southbound between Massey Road and Puhinui Road while road rehabilitation takes place.
The rehabilitation has been scheduled for approximately 7-night shifts (10pm to 5am) between Tuesday 3 and Tuesday 17 March (excluding Friday and Saturday nights).

The Palmerston North City Council has reported a sharp decline in illegal tyre dumping and illegal dumping which includes tyres since the Tyrewise scheme launched.
Before Tyrewise, Palmerston North spent $200,000 to $300,000 annually on dealing with illegal dumping, some of which was related to tyres. Tyre reports arrived weekly, ranging from single tyres to some incidents of hundreds of tyres dumped at once.
